Sandy Cadet Take Gold and Silver

Sandy cadets take on competitionOn Sunday 8th May, Air Cadets from 22 (Sandy) Squadron took home both Gold and Silver medals at the annual Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire wing athletics competition.

Competing against cadets from across Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, the cadets managed to win four Gold, and four Silver medals during the event, making this the squadron’s best result in its ten year history.

In the Class A Junior Boys, Cadet William Clubb (14) stormed to Gold in both the junior boys 100 metre an 200 metre sprints. For the Class D Junior Women, Cadet Lauren Barton (14) received a Gold medal in the junior women’s 800 metres, as well as Silver in long jump, and Cadet Laura Dorrell (14) received Silver in the discus.

Cadet Sergeant Tiffany Cotton (16) took her Gold medal in the Class E Senior Women’s discus event, and for the Class B Youths, Cadet Corporal Simon Parsons took Silver medals in both the Javelin and 100 metres, only just missing out by a fraction for Gold in the 100 metres.

Cadet Clubb said, “I was really surprised to have won in both events. I can’t wait for the regional competition”.

Adult Flight Sergeant Paul Redman also commented, “The cadets have done an amazing job today, and it shows with the number of medals. Well done to all those who competed”.
