Sandy Air Cadets in service for voluntary services

On the 27th May, Air Cadets from 2065 (Biggleswade) and 22 (Sandy) Squadron attended the Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire's service of thanksgiving for voluntary organisations.

The service, held at St Paul’s Church in Bedford, saw the cadets undertaking duties such as assisting with car parking, and directing attendees, before joining the church service.

This years’ service was the first for the newly appointed Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Helen Nellis, taking over from Sir Samuel Whitbread KCVO in February this year. The service gives thanks to all those in voluntary organisations across Bedfordshire for their continued service, such as the cadet organisations.

After the service, those attending went over to the Bedford Corn Exchange for refreshments, with the cadets helping serve the many guests with cake and biscuits.

Cadet Corporal Laura Dorrell commented, “It was a pleasure to be representing the Air Cadets with helping the new Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire”.
