Central Bedfordshire Civic Service

On Sunday 27th January, Air Cadets from 22 (Sandy) Squadron attend the Central Bedfordshire Council Chairman’s Civic Service, representing the Air Cadets for the Central Bedfordshire area.

The service for the Central Bedfordshire Chairman, Councillor Angela Barker, took place at St Mary’s church, at Haynes Church End, and was conducted by the chaplain to the Chairman, Reverend Dean Henley.

Guests and dignitaries at the event included Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire Mrs Helen Nellis, The High Sherriff of Bedfordshire Mr Jack Sapsworth, along with Mayors and Deputy Mayors from across the area.

The cadets provided a Guard of Honour for the arriving guests on their way into the church, as well as after the church service. The Squadron banner joining banners of other voluntary organisations, and the Royal British Legion from the Central Bedfordshire area for the service, and was carried by Squadron bearer Cadet Sergeant Laura Dorrell (16).

After the service, the cadets joined the guests for light refreshments, where they also got the chance to speak to the Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, and other guests.

Cadet Corporal William Clubb commented, “It’s good to be able to be a part of the guard of honour, and representing the Air Training Corps in the local area. It was also great to get to talk to the Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire”.
