Sandy Cadet Attend High Sherriff Installation

On Thursday 3rd April, cadets from 22 (Sandy) Squadron attended the Installation Ceremony of the new High Sherriff of Bedfordshire, Mr Colin Osborne MBE.

Mr Osborne has for many years now been involved with the Squadron, and in recognition has appointed as the Squadron’s Honorary President since May 2010.

The ceremony took place at the John O’Gaunt Golf Club, Sutton Park, Sandy, with the cadets providing a guard of honour for those attending, which also included H M Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire Helen Nellis, and outgoing High Sherriff Deborah Inskip.

The office of High Sheriff is the oldest Royal appointment in the country, and dates back to before the Norman Conquest. The High Sheriff’s role is the be a representative of the Queen and supporting the judiciary and police in the county as well as many involved in voluntary and youth organisations.

Flight Lieutenant Geoff Matthews RAFVR(T) commented, “Mr Osborne has been very supportive of the Squadron over the years, so it was great that the Squadron was invited to attend the ceremony”.
