Flying for 3 and what a surprise for one!

Perfect flying weather was the order of the day as three Cadets from 22 (Sandy) Squadron took to the skies at RAF Wyton for an air experience flight.
For two Cadets Laura Nundy and Helen Taylor this was their first flight, which they really looked forward to. Some 30 minutes after take off, with barrel rolls and loops completed the Cadets landed with big grins all over their faces, and wanted to do it all over again.
For the third Cadet, Robert Hubbard, from the Air Cadet side he was pretty new to the Grob Tutor, however he already flies a Pitt Special at Cranfield Airport in his spare time, and has also flown a Cessna and a Tomahawk and is still only 14. At Wyton his Pilot, Air Vice Marshal John May ret’d stated “he is a very switched on Cadet and will go far, I am recommending him to OC 5AEF for the future". His Squadron Commander Flt. Lt. Margaret Bell said "Cadet Hubbard’s hours of flying total just over 25 at present and he is working towards his PPL. He wants to become a Flight Staff Cadet at Wyton, and undertake his Flying Scholarship within the ACO, and then pursue a flying career".
On hearing what the Air Vice Marshal said Cadet Hubbard replied “Wow I can’t believe it, I am amazed, and from an AVM at that, I didn’t know he was that rank, as all Pilots wear Flying Officer tapes up there. The Grob Tutor is a heavier aircraft to manoeuvre when flying than the Pitt Special, but there is not a lot of difference, I had great fun flying it today with the AVM’s help”.
