Waddington 1999                                       8 April 1999

The majority of the cadets are from Sandy, but the numbers were made up from 73 (Huntingdon) and 2331 (St Ives) Squadrons.

The Vulcan is XM607, which flew 3 offensive missions against Port Stanley Airfield, during the Falklands War in 1982, and is preserved as Waddington's Gate Guard.

Cadets were shown around Sentry ZH102, which incidentally made 8 Squadrons first operational mission on the 8th May 1991.  They also had a briefing, a tour of ATC and a visit to the maintenance hangar.

When 23 Sqn disbanded as a Tornado F3 unit it re-roled as an E3-D unit, hence 8 Squadron markings on the port side of the aircraft and 23 Squadron markings on the starboard side.
