Personal Cadet & Forces History

Robert joined the Air Cadets with 2065 (Biggleswade) Squadron in 2001 at the age of 13, progressing to the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer during his cadet career. In his time, Robert gained his Silver gliding Wings, and was part of the Wing Training Team, before leaving as a cadet in April 2008.

Robert re-joined Biggleswade Squadron in May 2008 as a Civilian Instructor, moving into uniform as an Officer Cadet in August 2008. In October 2008, he transferred to 134 (Bedford) Sqn, as the Squadron Adjutant.

He passed his Officers Initial Course at RAF Cranwell on the 13 March 2009, gaining Top Student, and was appointed a Pilot Officer. In 2010, he was promoted to Flying Officer, and in June 2011 became Officer in Command 134 (Bedford) Squadron.

In February 2012 Robert transferred to 22 (Sandy) Squadron, as the Squadron training officer.  On the 1st January 2013, Robert took command of 22 (Sandy) Squadron.

Outside the Air Cadets, Robert works for an aircraft design/approvals company, working on projects for various airlines across the UK and Europe. Robert is also currently studying for a BEng (Hons) in Engineering, through the Open University.
