Civilian Committee

The civilian committee are a group of people who meet up every couple of months to help support the Squadron with fundraising, and supporting cadet activities

Some of us are parents of cadets, others have a personal interest in the development of our younger generation or who have previously been a part of the Squadron.

As you can imagine, fundraising is very important to the Squadron, and the funds we have helped raise are used to purchase essentials such as uniform and equipment, and also help to part fund trips and activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

We have helped organise events such as face painting, cake stalls, raffles and bag packing at local supermarkets, and we can also get involved in cooking at camps to keep the cadets on top form.

As you can imagine this can turn out to be a lot of fun and its great seeing from the inside what’s actually involved and how much the cadets can achieve from taking part.

In 2012, the civilian committee have achieved:

  • £79 raised at a car boot sale
  • Over £100 raised through easyfundraising.co.uk
  • £211.50 raised from a charity race night
  • £600 donated for gate manning at Shuttleworth Airshows
  • £1024 raised through grant applications
  • Over £1900 raised bag packing at local supermakets
  • Fed 25 cadets and staff at Wing Field Weekend
  • Organised food for Squadron summer BBQ, and fireworks night
  • Served refreshments at Squadron awards evening, and organised the raffle

How could you help?

We are always looking for anyone with an interest in the squadron that can give even just a small amount of time to assist at Squadron events, or help with fundraising, or even just attending our meetings.

It is so satisfying to see the cadets develop their skills and grow from the simple things like organisation and presentation to responsibility and self motivation.
