Cadets Join ATC Anniversary Parade

On Sunday 8th February, Air Cadets from 22 (Sandy) Squadron joined six other squadrons in a parade through Melbourn, Cambridgeshire, to celebrate the anniversary of the forming of the Air Training Corps in February 1941.

With over 150 cadets, the parade formed up at Melbourn Village College, where the Western Sector Officer, Squadron Leader Jayne Treutlein RAFVR(T) conducted an inspection of the parade. After the inspection the parade marched through the village to the All Saint’s Church in the village, led by the band of 2500 (St. Neots) Squadron.

During the parade the banners of the six Squadron where present, with Cadet Sergeant Peter Hessey carrying the banner for Sandy Squadron this year. After the church service, the parade ended with a march past, with the salute being taken by Squadron Leader Jayne Treutlein.

This year the Squadron is also marking its own anniversary, having been formed as a Squadron 15 years ago in April 2000.

Cadet Sergeant Peter Hessey, Squadron Banner Bearer commented “A massive well done to all of cadets on parade. It’s great to have the honour of carrying the Squadron banner on parade”.
